Nature and Innovation, In Perfect Harmony

Separated by origin. United by brilliance.

At House of Mehta, we honour both natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds; two different journeys that arrive at the same destination: breathtaking light.

One is born deep within the earth. The other is shaped by advanced science. Both offer purity, brilliance, and enduring elegance.

Understanding Diamonds

What Are Lab-Grown Diamonds?

What Are Lab-Grown Diamonds?
They’re real diamonds, not imitations. Lab-grown diamonds are created in laboratories that carefully replicate the conditions found under the earth’s surface where natural diamonds form.

How They’re Made:

Two high-tech processes create lab diamonds:

  • HPHT (High Pressure, High Temperature): Mimics the extreme conditions of the earth’s mantle.
  • CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition): Grows a diamond layer by layer from carbon-rich gases.

Why It Matters:

  • They look, feel, and shine exactly like natural diamonds.
  • Certified by the same international labs (like IGI or GIA).
  • Often more environmentally friendly and more affordable for the same visual and quality appeal.

What Are Natural Diamonds?

What Are Natural Diamonds?
They’re real diamonds, created by nature over billions of years. Natural diamonds are formed deep within the earth’s mantle and brought to the surface through ancient volcanic activity.

How They’re Made:

Natural diamonds form under extreme geological conditions:

  • High Pressure & High Temperature: Carbon atoms are compressed and crystallised more than 150 km below the earth’s surface.
  • Volcanic Uplift: They travel upward through volcanic pipes, reaching the earth’s crust after millions of years underground.

Why it Matters:

  • Each diamond is truly one-of-a-kind, with unique inclusions like natural fingerprints.
  • Certified by the same gemological labs (such as IGI or GIA).
  • Favoured for their rarity, emotional value, and significance in heirlooms, engagement rings, and legacy pieces.

Understanding Jewellery Metals

While diamonds bring brilliance, gold frames them with meaning. At House of Mehta, we work with 14kt and 18kt gold, carefully chosen for their ideal balance of purity, strength, and rich appearance.

1. Gold Purity Explained

Karat Purity Feel & Character
18kt
75% pure gold
Rich, buttery, luxurious
14kt
58.5% pure gold
Durable, luminous, resilient

Why Not 24kt?

Pure gold is too soft for intricate designs and cannot securely hold diamonds. 14kt and 18kt offer the perfect blend of beauty and strength for fine jewellery.

2. Gold Tones at House of Mehta

While diamonds bring brilliance, gold frames them with meaning. At House of Mehta, we work with 14kt and 18kt gold, carefully chosen for their ideal balance of purity, strength, and rich appearance.

Gold Tone Description Best Suited For
Yellow Gold
Warm, classic alloy
Traditional bangles, heirlooms
Rose Gold
Romantic, blush-toned
Engagement rings, stacking bands
White Gold
Sleek, cool-toned
Modern designs, pavé settings

3. Two-Tone Gold - Where Tradition Meets Contrast

Two-tone jewellery artfully combines different gold tones in one piece, adding contrast and depth, and allowing the gold to blend more beautifully with the diamond or gemstone.

How to Care for Your Jewellery

Investing in fine jewellery is about more than beauty. It’s about understanding the materials, the craftsmanship, and the stories they hold.
